Week of April 24th
We will be going to Oatland Island Tuesday for our 'Habitats' field trip. Please make sure students are in uniforms tomorrow with appropriate shoes. I'm sure it will be very muddy and buggy out! The kids can bring bug spray, a hat, and/or sunglasses to wear during the field trip.
Thursday students may wear a purple shirt (with uniform bottoms) in support of our military.
Friday is Field Day! Students may dress down on Friday. Our grade color is green this year so they can either wear their green field day shirts that they purchased, or a green shirt. (If they don't have a green shirt, please don't worry about it!) As of now, the weather looks pretty good for Friday but please make sure they are dressed appropriately and have tennis shoes. The kids may bring bug spray, hats, and sunglasses as well. Our time is from 11:38am - 1:44pm. If you would like to come and cheer the kids on, we would love to have you!
We are starting MAP testing next week. We will be testing reading and math throughout the week. I wanted to give them a break this week before we had to start up again. We're almost there!
Spelling words are in homework folders. Our quiz is next Friday, May 4th.
We will be going to Savannah Children's Theater on Monday, May 7th.

Reading- This week we will be focusing on describing characters in fiction texts. Characters have inside and outside traits. Inside traits are how a character acts or how we can describe their personality. Outside traits are how a character looks. We will be continuing to ask and answer questions as we read. All of our writing and reading activities will be centered around 'The Lorax.'
Math- We are continuing work with fractions. We learned how to correlate fractions on our fraction strips to a number line. When working with a number line, we count the sections not the lines.
Social Studies- We are still learning about different European explorers.
**Please make sure they are reading and practicing math at home. It really helps to reinforce what they learned that day. We have many different websites we use throughout the week that are located under resources.
Important Dates:
